The Arlanda airport is located halfways between Uppsala and Stockholm along the E4 motorway (about 35 km from Uppsala). The airport has excellent connections to Uppsala by bus (frequent), by train (reasonably frequent) or by taxi (any time).

• Bus 801 (costs about 100 SEK one way): The ride takes 30 minutes, and buses leave every 20 minutes or so from Bay 13 of each terminal. Tickets can be purchased from the driver for cash (Swedish only). Make sure you take bus No. 801 and NOT 802, which is also an Uppsala bus but it stops at every chicken farm between the airport and Uppsala (and there are many). 801 is a direct bus. The first stop of 801 is the Central Bus Station.

• Trains (SJ or UL/SL) : Tickets should be purchased from the ticket machines at the escalator (in SkyCity) leading to the train station under the airport. In general, trains work well in Sweden.

• Taxi: Ask the taxi marshals (dressed in red or yellow outside the terminal at the taxi rank) to get you an UPPSALA TAXI with a FIXED PRICE (this costs around 500 SEK). You can pay the driver with major credit cards or with cash. People don’t usually tip taxis unless spectacular services are rendered.
